Frauscher Sensor Technology (Beijing) Co. Ltd.
In order to guarantee this, Frauscher offers an innovative and extensive range of products and services.
Since 1987, Frauscher Sensortechnik GmbH has been developing and manufacturing high-quality products in the field of inductive sensor technology. The main area of application for these products is railway systems that take on responsibility for the safety of rail operations. This results in extremely high requirements regarding all stages of the product life cycle, from the concept to subsequent provision of support for the products in the field.
Various interfaces and evaluation options open up a broad range of applications for Frauscher products: axle counting applications in railway stations and on block sections, securing of level crossings, localisation of hot boxes, automatic warning systems, diagnostic systems for sets of points, hump yards or positioning aids for loading and unloading devices.

When it comes to industrial systems, depots, shunting or marshalling systems, cost-effective solutions with lower safety requirements are called for. What is required here above all is individual solutions for simple switching tasks such as electronic sets of points specific to the location, simple wheel detection, directional detection, etc. The systematic modularity and flexibility of the Frauscher hardware and software components form the perfect starting point for this.
There are numerous options available when it comes to implementing safety signals at level crossings. For example track vacancy detection, providing directional information or full axle detection. The large number of functions covered by Frauscher products means that they satisfy all requirements regarding secure and cost-effective control of level crossing safety systems.
Frauscher Wheel Detection FWD provides the appropriate signal in a compact and easy-to-use form, whatever the conditions.
As an integral component of hot-box detection (HOA), supplied by a wide range of manufacturers, Frauscher axle counters perform an important role in the operational performance of this product.
Additional information such as speed or wheel diameter offers the operator the opportunity to optimise the waiting time at the level crossing, for example, or to detect vehicle types by different wheel diameters.
Central evaluation of the analogue wheel sensor signal forms the basis for exact detection and calculation of the diameter and the speed of the traversing axle. The capability to determine these parameters reliably and selectively constitutes one major advantage of Frauscher’s wheel detection system architecture.
As a customer-focused company, Frauscher offers a complete spectrum of services for all products and systems. This encompasses both individual planning and project planning, as well as the provision of support for installation and commissioning. A comprehensive training programme ensures that operators are able to install the systems independently, operate them on a long-term basis, maintain them and even configure them where necessary.

Wheel detection and/or axle counting (Frauscher ACS2000) for standard-gauge railways and trams, automatic warning systems, level crossing safety systems, track switches, pedal functions, hot-box detection (HOA), speed measurement systems, direction detection, etc.
In the early 1980s, Josef Frauscher developed the "analogue sensor". This is an inductive sensor system that measures the separation distance of a metal part and provides the information in the form of an injected analogue current.
Initial applications were realised in retaining walls for power stations, where these sensors detect the structure's deviation from the vertical. Frauscher analogue sensors are manufactured for a range of applications, such as to determine the location of switch blades, to monitor retaining walls, to display levels, etc.
All Frauscher components can be mounted, adjusted and commissioned simply and rapidly, without the use of special tools. With appropriate training and using clear assembly documentation, the operator’s assembly and maintenance personnel will be able to carry out all the required work themselves.
These training sessions can take place either at the customer’s premises or at our company headquarters in St. Marienkirchen. At our headquarters, we have a modern, large-scale training centre that can accommodate up to 30 people. All the Frauscher components are in place there, for a “hands on” experience.
You can find the next training session at our company headquarters under:
Frauscher is number one throughout the world in the manufacture of inductive sensor technology for railway applications. The high vertical integration, the seamless checks carried out on the quality and functions of the components and systems and the ongoing optimisation of all production steps ensure the high quality of the products.

The Frauscher corporate group developed from the individual enterprise founded by Josef Frauscher in 1987 for electromechanics (now mechatronics). This enterprise was based on an invention of the company founder, regarding an innovative sensor to detect rolling stock. After a relatively long development phase, the company was able to expand at an above-average rate. In 1992 the individual enterprise was incorporated into a limited liability company and in 1997 the foundation stone for new company premises was laid, with that construction work having since been followed by six other structures as the company expanded further.
With a view to sustainable company development, Josef Frauscher included the company in the Josef Frauscher private foundation in 2002. This step promoted the further growth of the company, as rail customers insist on very long-term supply commitments that cannot really be guaranteed sustainably by private companies. Under the aegis of the JF private foundation, several companies were created, with Frauscher Sensortechnik and Frauscher Energietechnik carrying out intensive research and development activities.

As a system integrator, you can benefit in particular from the serial interface of the new FAdC and FAdCi axle counting systems, which makes considerably more information available whilst greatly reducing hardware usage and wiring costs. As an interface, you can import your own protocol or even the Frauscher protocol. In comparison to conventional axle counting systems, the investment costs for the FAdC and FAdCi are up to 30-40% lower.
Moreover, the re-developed software tools offer enormous potential for saving, as you can carry out the configuration, diagnosis or simulation yourself. With the tools, you can design track layouts quickly and simply, and generate all other information such as configuration files or planning documents automatically. This reduces the time and programming outlay considerably, and further changes can be made in the course of the project without incurring high additional costs.

For the first time in the year 2013 the economy prize „Innviertler“ was awarded. Various innovative and regionally anchored companies from Braunau, Ried and Schärding had the chance to advertise for receiving this prize.
The Frauscher Holding was awarded for this prize. „Engagement due to family friendly working times and support of employed parents as well as individually adaptable working time models such as flextime are important preconditions“, said Josef Frauscher, who proudly accepted the award.
Frauscher Holding got also nominated as one of the three best companies in the category 50 – 249 employees and received a certificate for this.
Founder Josef Frauscher handed over three new laptops to primary school children from St. Marienkirchen on the 16th of January 2013.
The new school director Hermine Hofinger mentioned that they are very glad about the company’s commitment, be it donations in kind such as laptops, equipment for Physics but also about financial support. Last year they furnished their school library with seating accommodations thank to Frauscher’s generosity. The pupils also enjoyed an excursion at the Frauscher premises and were pretty fascinated by its technology.
The company Frauscher has ever supported and maintained a good relationship to schools. Frauscher’s focus is to encourage the youth for technology, because within the little techno geeks are already some talents clearly identifiable who can be discovered and also supported at this early stage.
At the beginning of December Network Rail granted approval for the introduction onto the UK rail network of the Frauscher axle counting system ''Frauscher Advanced Counter'' FAdC®. This approval is valid for diesel traction applications including all Invensys Rail modular signalling projects as well as the Cardiff Area Signalling Renewals upgrade. After completion of successful field trials during the first/second quarter of 2013, this approval will be extended to include the use of the FAdC on AC and DC traction lines also.
Thanks to the Ethernet interface, which offers several benefits for both operators and system integrators, these projects have been equipped with the latest generation of axle counting equipment from Frauscher. Due to the customized interface the FAdC can be optimally integrated into modern electronic interlocking systems and therefore offers maximum flexibility in the design and configuration with minimal use of hardware.
