Level Crossings
Bahnübergänge

There are numerous options available when it comes to implementing safety signals at level crossings. For example track vacancy detection, providing directional information or full axle detection. The large number of functions covered by Frauscher products means that they satisfy all requirements regarding secure and cost-effective control of level crossing safety systems.

Bahnübergänge

Various manufacturers have already integrated our components into many of their level crossing safety systems.

Bahnübergänge
Track vacancy detection and wheel detection as the basis for controlling level crossings:
Geschwindigkeit / Raddurchmesser

Additional information such as speed or wheel diameter offers the operator the opportunity to optimise the waiting time at the level crossing, for example, or to detect vehicle types by different wheel diameters.

Central evaluation of the analogue wheel sensor signal forms the basis for exact detection and calculation of the diameter and the speed of the traversing axle. The capability to determine these parameters reliably and selectively constitutes one major advantage of Frauscher’s wheel detection system architecture.

Kundenspezifische Anwendung

The modularity and flexibility of the hardware and software components for our wheel detection systems offer many further options. Whether it’s a specific function that is required or adaption to the specific features of the vehicle fleet, timing, software protocol, signal behaviour, connector assignments, home setting behaviour, etc. - an extensive range of adaptations are possible.

Messsysteme

The availability of wheel detection and axle counting systems is heavily dependent on electromagnetic interference at the sensor - vehicle interface, among other things. The detection and evaluation of such emissions forms the basis for the EN50238-3 standard.

Dienstleistungen

As a customer-focused company, Frauscher offers a complete spectrum of services for all products and systems. This encompasses both individual planning and project planning, as well as the provision of support for installation and commissioning. A comprehensive training programme ensures that operators are able to install the systems independently, operate them on a long-term basis, maintain them and even configure them where necessary.

Zubehör

Our components can be installed, commissioned and maintained simply and rapidly without special tools. Various configuration options such as DIP switches or plug-in connections offer convenient handling in all respects.

Overvoltage protection board BSI

This board is positioned on the cable termination support in the inner system. It is compact and requires no maintenance, protecting the inner system from undesirable induced overvoltages such as lightning strikes or contact wire short circuits.

Zubehör

Test coupon PB

Throughout the whole commissioning phase, verification that the wheel detection system is functioning correctly is required. Using the test coupon PB, it is simple to simulate a traversing at the wheel sensor.

Track connection box GAK

The wheel sensor cable can be connected to the outer cable system using a track connection box. As only a clamping unit is required for this and no electronic components, this connection is also very easy to establish. In the standard design, one track connection box allows connection of up to four wheel sensors.

Radsensorfamilie RSR180/181

This group of wheel sensors is characterised by technology that has been tried and tested over many years and by continuous further developments. Features that should be highlighted include the omission of an electronic calibration device in the track and the simple and rapid assembly process. The calibration process takes place at the evaluation board in the inner system.

Radsensorfamilie RSR180/181

Wheel detection and/or axle counting (Frauscher ACS2000) for standard-gauge railways and trams, automatic warning systems, level crossing safety systems, track switches, pedal functions, hot-box detection (HOA), speed measurement systems, direction detection, etc.

Radsensorfamilie RSR122/123

Time-consuming compatibility checks with regard to electromagnetic compatibility can be simplified. Automatic calibration away from the track guarantees that users spend as little time as possible in the hazardous area and also rules out calibration errors. The cable plug saves valuable time during assembly and temporary disassembly of the sensor, for example due to tamping or grinding work. A strongly progressive effective distance only detects metal parts that are located between the top edge of the rail and the sensor surface.

Consulting

Based on a detailed analysis of the framework conditions, a measurement of interference or, optionally, using test installations, we work together with you to define the foundations for your plan and to select the best possible technology and system architecture. In the next stage, we create a comprehensive concept and quotation for your specific requirements, based on the track plan.

This forms the prerequisite for a future-proof, highly-available and cost-effective solution.
