In conjunction with an appropriate evaluation device, the wheel sensor type RSR180 is suited to reliable detection of rolling stock wheels. It is conveniently secured using a rail claw at the rail base. This means that there is no need to drill into the rail! The wheel sensor RSR180 is connected to the evaluation board in the inner system using a signal cable with star-quad stranding.
Depending on the signal evaluation, the scope of use for the wheel sensor RSR180 extends from simple reporting and monitoring tasks and detection of the direction of travel to axle counting at speeds ranging from 0-450 km/h.
The precise assembly of the wheel sensors constitutes a particular challenge when using grooved rails with trams and metros. A tried-and-tested, efficient solution is now available to satisfy any requirement in this area. The grooved rail claws enable the traversing of wheel sensors in road areas, or enable wheel sensors to be incorporated in pavement surfaces. Grooved rail claws can be clamped, welded or connected using screws, depending on customer requirements.
Frauscher Vignol rail claws can be adapted flexibly to almost any rail profile. Features of these products include the fact that no drilling on the rail is required, flexible positioning, and simple and rapid assembly or disassembly, to name just a few. These Vignol rail claws can be used for both ballast superstructures and for superstructure forms of fixed track.
