Wheel Sensors

The wheel sensors RSR consist of two independent systems, based on inductive processes, and generate the analogue signal aspect. This is proportional to the damping by the wheel flange and is transmitted as a direct current signal to the evaluation board, via a track connection box GAK, the outer cable system and the overvoltage protection board BSI.

The wheel sensors are arranged compactly in just one housing, thereby enabling simple and uncomplicated assembly. Above all, our sensors are characterised by their high availability and ease of assembly due to the patented rail claws. Simple maintenance cycles and a low level of required maintenance ensure minimal life cycle costs.

All our sensors are highly resistant to mechanical loads such as shocks or vibrations. The sensors must also be able to reliably withstand huge electromagnetic and chemical influences. Frauscher sensors are designed to withstand even the cold and ice in the polar circles. Heat and desert sand are no problem for these sensors.

The wheel sensor as the core product in wheel detection

In line with Frauscher's philosophy to position as few electronic components as possible in the track or close to the track, all of the electronics for evaluation are located in the protected inner system or sited decentrally in a switch cabinet. The track connection box only constitutes the connection between the wheel sensor cables (which are flexible in length) and the outer cable system.

Frauscher Wheel Sensors

For many years now, Frauscher wheel sensors have stood for safe and reliable operation, even when subject to extreme temperatures, huge amounts of vibration and diverse electromagnetic influences. Customers throughout the world appreciate the ease of assembly and commissioning and the low maintenance costs.

Frauscher offers 3 different types of wheel sensors that are tailored to different requirements:

RSR180/181 – proven and multi-faceted RSR122/123 – highly-resistant against interference RSR121 – cost-effective for low safety requirements
