Over several years, Frauscher has supplied various projects in Taiwan with innovative, tailored solutions – based on their product’s unique capabilities, as can be read here.

Frauscher Sensor Technology provides the Taiwanese railway market with optimum solutions for several years now. Amongst the projects that have been supplied so far, South Link, Nanping, Wuta, Chenggong and Jhueifen mark some milestones. These installations benefit from the company’s most innovative axle counters and from Frauscher’s continuous developments, bringing specific advantages to Taiwan’s railway environment.

A benchmark in global railway markets

The Frauscher Advanced Counter FAdC is in operation globally, including several lines in Taiwan. Based on inductive wheel sensors, it is highly reliably even under harsh conditions, such as extreme temperatures and moisture, floods, lightning strikes, mechanical impacts and electromagnetic interference. Smart functionalities, such as the Supervisor Track Sections STS or the Counting Head Control CHC contribute to increasing the system’s availability by supporting the handling of such unavoidable external influences. Flexible interfaces enable the simple realisation of decentralised, centralised as well as mixed architectures.

A redundant version of this system has been installed on the South Link line between Chao-Zhou and Tai-Tung which is run by the Taiwanese Railways Administration TRA. There, the FAdC has proven its capabilities of working highly reliably under the aforementioned harsh conditions. It operates under extreme weather conditions, including high temperatures and the potential of flooding. Track vacancy detection has been realised using the FAdC together with Frauscher Wheel Sensors RSR123. The system’s flexibility allowed the realisation of a specific architecture, permitting the relay output and diagnostic systems to be placed in each station.

The Frauscher Advanced Counter FAdC can be integrated into flexible architectures via both relay and Ethernet interfaces.

Meeting experts and their requirements

At this year’s Smart IoT Taiwan – Rail & Metro Expo and Summit in Taiwan, Frauscher’s team on-site seized the chance to discuss requirements and solutions with interested experts.

Based on inputs from global railway markets and against the backdrop of an open mind for new possibilities, Frauscher’s portfolio has increased over the years. Additional tools, such as the Frauscher Diagnostic System FDS, which is in use on the South Link line, allow for a remote access to diagnostic data. This supports condition-based and contemporary maintenance strategies. Data transfer to interlocking systems is possible via relay as well as via Ethernet interfaces using individual protocols or the Frauscher Safe Ethernet FSE protocol. The company constantly seizes chances at railway exhibitions, such as the “Smart IoT Taiwan – Rail & Metro Expo and Summit”, to present these and other solutions to interested experts from innovative railway markets. The team on-site took the occasion to discuss individual requirements and new ideas with current customers, as well as with new contacts.
