FAdC® at Vhodnaya Station | Kazakhstan

ArcelorMittal is responsible for the operation of a dedicated industrial railway infrastructure located in Temirtau, Kazakhstan. At Vhodnaya station, an essential shunting yard, various goods and materials, such as polyester, zinc, aluminium, sinter, iron ore, and coke-chemical products, are loaded and unloaded. The station's robust infrastructure features 64 switching points and 68 signals, necessitating the use of a high-performing train detection system to ensure the safe and efficient management of traffic flow.

FAdC® at Uglerudnaya Station | Kazakhstan

AcelorMittal is the operator of the Uglerudnaya industrial railway station, located in Temirtau, Kazakhstan. The station features a total of 56 switches and 52 track sections to enable the smooth flow of train traffic. To ensure the safety of all trains, an interlocking system is used to establish secure routes for incoming, outgoing, and passing trains. This requires effective traffic management and a dependable train detection system to detect the presence of trains on the tracks.

Churnet Valley Heritage Railway | United Kingdom

The Churnet Valley Heritage Railway preserves England's rich heritage of steam-powered rail transport. As the heritage railway pursued further expansion, the operator sought to implement modern and efficient signalling solutions for track vacancy detection. By integrating cutting-edge axle counting technology in the form of the Frauscher Advanced Counter FAdC®, the operator was able to increase the safety, availability and reliability of the railway operations. This modernisation effort was part of a broader strategy to preserve the railway's historic charm while embracing contemporary advancements to meet current and future demands.

Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (Rewari – Makarpura) | India

The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) represents one of the most strategically significant freight transportation projects in India. By facilitating the seamless transport of goods between major economic hubs, the intention is that the WDFC will significantly boost economic growth and development in the local region and beyond, further underlying the importance of this project.

Tracking Trains in Houston | USA

Houston MetroRail (METRO for short) is comprised of three light-rail lines covering 22 miles. Two-car, low-floor trainsets are powered by overhead catenary and operated on a mix of rail types, including embedded, grooved, concrete, and ballasted track. Harsh weather conditions such as extreme heat, humidity, and storms with heavy rains causing floods are typical for Houston. Combined with the variable track structure this caused significant malfunctions of the wheel sensors of METRO’s signalling system.

Frauscher Train Detection Metro Warsaw

Metro Warsaw | Poland

Metro Warsaw was looking for an alternative to track circuits for the line M2, to increase the availability of public transport by using reliable signalling technology. In the end, the operator even decided to replace the existing track circuits on line M1 with the Frauscher Axle Counter ACS200.

Toronto Transit Commission | Canada

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Line 1 Yonge-University is Toronto’s longest subway line, with track circuits utilized for signalling. Due to an increasing number of daily passengers and an aged system the need for upgrading without interfering with the daily operations became readily apparent. It was further required that the new signalling system functions independently of the existing system. It would provide CBTC fallback functionalities, and work as an overlay to the current track circuit-based system.

Dillinger Hütte | Germany

A new ladder track was required to provide more parking tracks in the steel plant. At the same time, the layout of the dead end tracks were optimised and the efficiency of the whole depot improved by installing the Frauscher Advanced Counter FAdCi® in combination with the wheel sensor RSR180. With the implementation of the Frauscher Diagnostic System FDS, the overall maintenance costs can be significantly reduced.

Shalun Signaling | Taiwan

The Shalun Line is frequented by four-car-trains and located in the south of Taiwan. Tropical conditions with temperatures between 22 and 28 degrees and high humidity are not the only challenge the Frauscher Axle Counter Solution has to deal with.

CBTC Fallback System on Beijing Metro Lines | China

Beijing metro, one of the busiest lines in the world, was Frauscher’s very first assignment when entering the Chinese market. Due to its utilised capacity, it requires a great level of stability, reliability and performance of the entire signalling system. The Communication Based Train Control System (CBTC) applied here relies on a backup system consisting of fixed automatic train detection systems. Axle counting systems from Frauscher are perfectly suited for the accurate operation of such stand-by systems.
