Frauscher lays foundation for new Manufacturing Hub in India to support global growth and regional collaboration

Aug 11, 2025

St. Marienkirchen/Mysore, 11 August 2025: As part of its long-term commitment to strengthening global supply chains and supporting international rail modernisation efforts, Frauscher Sensortechnik has commenced construction of an extended manufacturing hub in Mysore, India. A symbolic launch of the construction of the production facility was held during an official ceremony on 7 August 2025. This state-of-the-art facility is scheduled for completion by October 2026 and will serve as a strategic addition to the company’s global production network.

Spanning approximately 14,400 square metres (155,000 square feet), the two-storey facility is strategically designed to scale sensor and board production while enhancing technological innovation and regional employment. Production operations will be housed on the ground floor, with the first floor dedicated to office spaces, the R&D hub and two specialised centres of excellence:

  • Frauscher Training Centre: A dedicated facility for external training programs, enabling railway professionals, partners, and customers to gain hands-on experience with Frauscher solutions and collaborate on real-world operational challenges.

  • Frauscher Experience Centre: A premium space designed to demonstrate Frauscher’s cutting-edge solutions, expertise, and innovation — offering visitors a deep understanding of technology and its real-world applications.

Delivering trusted solutions

The new site will strengthen Frauscher’s position as a trusted partner in the railway industry, driving growth across the Indian market and expanding its capabilities to serve Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and other emerging international markets. The localised R&D hub will provide tailored product innovation for the Indian Railways and enhance Frauscher’s ability to serve customer needs and deliver trusted, safe, and intelligent solutions.

“The construction of our extended manufacturing hub in India marks an important milestone in our global strategy to build a more resilient and responsive supply chain. Designed to complement our Austrian operations, this site expands our manufacturing footprint and strengthens our ability to meet growing demand across key international markets, while maintaining the high standards of quality and innovation.” - Michael Thiel, CEO, Frauscher Sensor Technology

Innovation and sustainability at the core

The upcoming Mysore factory is designed for long-term sustainability, featuring 100% wastewater recycling, rainwater harvesting, and groundwater recharge via percolation pits. Rooftop solar panels will provide clean energy, aligning with Frauscher’s commitment to environmentally responsible innovation. This expansion strengthens Frauscher’s global manufacturing strategy by enhancing supply chain agility, generating local employment, and increasing the company’s responsiveness to market demands. It also increases the company’s capacity to serve India and other key international markets more efficiently.

Groundbreaking ceremony honours local culture

The groundbreaking ceremony reflected Frauscher’s appreciation of local customs. It featured a traditional inauguration ceremony with a blessing, a symbolic shovel ceremony, and a treeplanting event, highlighting its commitment to sustainable growth, local culture, and long-standing partnerships. The event was attended by representatives from Indian Railways, regional authorities, and key industry partners.
